Allow 1.5 to 2 hours for your adventure. The experience includes approximately 1.5 kilometres of walking through Winnipeg's historic Exchange District as you solve clues and unravel the mystery.

During the Battle of the Atlantic in World War II, Winnipeg-born Canadian spymaster William Stephenson (known as Intrepid) received a mysterious anonymous transmission warning of a deadly German U-boat ambush targeting an Allied convoy. The convoy carried British gold reserves being secretly transferred to Canada as part of Operation Fish.

Trusting the warning, Stephenson ordered the convoy rerouted — saving countless lives and securing cargo critical to the Allied war effort.

But the source of the message was never identified.

Privately, Stephenson became convinced the transmission came from someone he knew intimately. As any good spy would, he kept the suspicion to himself.

After the war, unable to let the mystery go, Stephenson secretly began work on an experimental communications device designed to transmit messages through time itself.

Years later, he succeeded.

Stephenson attempted to send the same convoy warning back to his wartime self — closing the loop that had haunted him for decades.

The transmission began successfully… but the device destabilized before the message could fully pass through.

Fearing that another immediate attempt might corrupt the transmission — or worse, alter history itself — Stephenson shut the project down.

As a safeguard, he left behind a hidden “The Intrepid Protocol”: a recovery system designed for future operators to restore the connection and complete the transmission safely.

Now, decades later, players uncover the lost protocol hidden throughout downtown Winnipeg. By reactivating Stephenson’s abandoned system, they must complete the transmission that secretly shaped history as we know it.
